Five Easter Festival Fixtures
There are four big Easter Festivals over the Easter Weekend – three in Johannesburg and one near Durban. And there is a new one in Port Elizabeth, one with a difference, for it is a knock-out tournament with prize money – the Mzwandile Mali Easter Rugby Tournament.
The oldest of them is the Saints Festival at St Stithians in Randburg. Then there is the 19th St John's Festival in Houghton and the KES Festival also in Houghton. At Botha's Hill near Durban Kearsney will be holding their Festival.
These four festivals seem to have no difficulty in attracting top rugby schools from around the country.
Paarl Boys' High will again be at St John's even though they leave two days later for the Sanix Invitation Tournament in Japan.
There are also teams from outside of South Africa – Windhoek High School at St Stithians and St John's of Harare and Scots College of Sydney at St John's.
There is a great gathering for these festivals – all the players and schoolmasters, match officials and eager parents, siblings and groupies and, of course, those who scout for top players for unions. They will be great occasions in a boy's life.
