FNB Top 20 - 2 May
Some surprises
There were not as many matches as usual as long-weekenditis laid schools rugby low – yet again. But amongst the matches played there were performances warranting changes to our FNB Top 20 yet again.
Grey Bloem had a huge win over Maritzburg College. Mind you, it's hard enough to play Grey Bloem without the travel problems which College endured.
Down in the Cape, Boland Landbou ran into tigerish tackling from Tygerberg and came unstuck.
DHS went up to Johannesburg and down to KES and so they come into the FNB Top 20 for the first time in the seven years we have been doing the ranking.
Waterkloof move up after their big win over Eldoraigne, the slayers of Monnas the previous week.
Monument, who are in Japan, Pretoria Boys High, Paul Roos, Grey PE, Bishops, who have played relatively few matches this year, Marlow, and Paarl Gim did not play, making a block that is hard to shift. Further down Queen's, Jim Fouché, Glenwood and Hoërskool Middelburg did not play.
the schools who play run greater risks and should be rewarded more than those who do not play.
In the group of schools bubbling underneath the FNB Top 20 there is a newcomer in the improving Framesby side of Port Elizabeth.
