Framesby captain: SF Niewoudt
SF Niewoudt has signed with the Kings, but his focus is on leading Framesby in their FNB Classic Clash against Nico Malan.
The all-action openside flank who featured in the EP team that won the final game at Craven Week this year will study at NMMU next year, but first he must put the finishing touch on his schoolboy rugby career.
Niewoudt says that it has been an honour leading a tough Framesby side that have played their hearts out all year.
"It is a great honour to be captain and I strive to make the school proud. It’s been a very good season for us but was unlucky with a few close calls against some “big names”.
"We are in the FNB top 20 at the moment and for a school with no hostel it’s a great achievement," he said.
Although Framesby have had the better of Nico Malan in recent years, Niewoudt knows that it will be tough in their FNB Classic Clash this weekend.
"We won the last couple of years, but with small margins. Hopefully we can pull it through on Saturday but we are expecting a physical game.
"For Saturday we have a few injuries due to the long season but we have depth so we can field an experienced side," he said.
The Framesby captain said that playing at Craven Week was a 'great experience', but rates jogging out at Kings Park to play Glenwood in a curtain-raiser as the highlight of his season.
He always looks to lead by example and it will be no different this weekend.
"We need to believe in our gameplan and stick our guns. We are a good team and if we do the basics we will come through as winners. Play for your school and your teammate, the rest will happen," he said.
