Glenwood add a coach
Mike Vowles – Michael Lesley Vowles a qualified teacher but really a rugby coach – has joined the Glenwood High School coaching staff as the assistant to other head coach, Rudi Dames.
Although Vowles is qualified to team history, life orientation and technology, he will not teach.
He has several years of coaching behind him.
In 2004 he coached the Westville Boys' High 1st XV and did so until 2007 when his contract ran out. Those were days when Hugh Reece-Edwards was coaching the school. He was also the director of Westville's academy and coached the KwaZulu Natal team at the Academy Week.
In 2006 he began coaching at College Rovers and then again frond 2010 to 2013, looking after the successful Under-19 and Under-20 teams. For two years he was overseas coaching the London South Africa side and in 2009 he was back in Durban, Coaching Crusaders Under-20..
In 2011 Vowles again coached the KwaZulu Natal side at the Academy Week.
In 2013 Vowles was the Intermediate Rugby Coach and Course facilitator for the Investec International Rugby Academy whose coaches included Braam van Straaten, Grant Bashford, Greg Miller, Andy east, Ruan Fourie and Ian Macdonald.
