Graeme College's Rugby Report
Graeme College were very proud to host Gill College on Saturday, which is one of our oldest rugby derby weekends.
Matches were played from Under-9 upwards, which means it is a very special fixture.
With the 1st XV participating in the Kingswood College Rugby Festival, our 2nd XV took on the challenge to play the Gill 1st XV on the day. It was an exciting encounter which ended in a 17-17 draw. The Graeme 3rds also had a nail biter against the Gill 2nd XV, and sneaked home, winning by one point. Graeme seemed to dominate the rest of the fixtures ending the day with nine wins and one draw.
Graeme College played against Clifton College on the first day of the Kingswood College Rugby Festival. Graeme College made up a nine-point half time deficit to win the match 27-21.
Graeme College would have been frustrated in the first half as they made a number of crucial errors in their own red zone which gifted Clifton numerous opportunities to score points. When Graeme did eventually get ball in their opponents half they looked dangerous and scored on both occasions. Graeme trailed 12-21 at the break.
The second half belonged to Graeme as they spent near on the entire second half in their opponents half and managed to score three tries. The Graeme College backline was particularly threatening on a day where they found space in the wide channels. Graeme could not convert the tries, but managed to win 27-21. It was a great result against a powerful Clifton side.
