Going in to the match, the flirts XV was always going to be a close battle giving 2015's encounter between the schools.

Despite loosing 2015 edition Union High came out and stunned the hosts with an early converted try in ten minutes.

This however, seemed to kick-start Greame, as they started to dominate the possession and territory.  The domination started up front where the Graeme forwards were impeccable on the day, ensuring good clean ball from their set pieces and also not allowing Union High to get a good platform to work from. The Union side though countered well and pounced on any Graeme errors. Graeme were finally rewarded with a try of their own by Captain Ntsika Ndungane which was converted by Sivu Ngqiyaza.

The teams were dead-lock at the break as they all left the field 7-all at halftime.

Union High started the second half much like the first, with an early converted try, giving the visitors a 14-7 lead. Soon after the try, Greame  were testing Union's defence as they hunt for a try. This finally paid off as the Graeme scrumhalf, Cameron Amos, managed to snipe around the fringe of the ruck and score. Sivu Ngqiyaza converted to level the scores at 14 apiece.

Not long after that, the Graeme forwards were rewarded for their hard work as they crashed over, after setting up a maul from a five metre lineout.  Graeme led 19-14 but there was still plenty of time and rugby still to be played.
