Grant Khomo Week Ends
Three teams took the field with 100% records on day three but only one team emerged unscathed – Western Province who beat South Western Districts 28-0 in the last match of the week.
Western Province got through the gaps in the South Western Districts defence to score six tries to only two by the George side. The forward packs were evenly matched and they delivered solid possession for the backs, but the difference between the sides was Western Province's ability to convert half chances into points.
Western Province struck first with a try in the opening minutes of the game and they added another later in the half, while South Western Districts earned a converted try, which handed Western Province a 12-5 half-time lead.
South Western Districts struck back immediately after the break to reduce the deficit to 12-10, but four more well-worked tries by Western Province allowed them to secure an emphatic 38-10 victory.
Boland lost its unbeaten record to the Blue Bulls by 11 points in a 75-point extravaganza.
In the other Grant Khomo Week matches KwaZulu-Natal pipped the Golden Lions 32-29, Namibia outplayed Zimbabwe 59-19 in an international encounter, the Blue Bulls defeated Boland 43-32, the Western Province XV registered a 60-26 victory against the Free State XV, the Leopards defeated Border Country Districts 46-3, Free State beat Border 38-20, Eastern Province went down 36-20 to the Valke and the Griffons beat Limpopo 29-19.
