Grey go up to Grahamstown

These two great schools, traditional boys' schools, have been playing each other since 1919 when getting up to Grahamstown was not as easy and comfortable as it is now.

Grey has more boys than St Andrew's and has been doing rather better. Last year they won 61-7 on Philip Field and 67-24 on 2014 but the last time they met on lower the score was more circumspect – 36-22.

St Andrew's have played 11 matches with just two defeats, losing to Bishops and SACS. Apart from SACS the only Top 20 team that they have played is Selborne, and that was last week when St Andrew's had a comprehensive 26-5 victory That certainly stirred the blood of the great Grahamstown school.

Grey are still unbeaten in their 10 matches, having drawn with Marlow in their first match. They have played only two Top 20 teams and beaten them both – DHS and Paul Roos.

Currently Grey are ranked ninth on the Schools Top 20 while, after their big win over Selborne have joined the group of a dozen teams just below the Top 20.
