Hanri Snyders AJ Ferreira Captain
Player Profile
AJ Ferreira are up against local rivals Carlton-Van Heerden on Saturday in an FNB Classic Clash. Hanri Snyders captains a committed AJ Ferreira team from fullback.
Hanri Snyders was born in Upington on 28 November 1988 and after attending a local primary school he moved to AJ Ferreira in Grade 8. He is in Grade 12 and is a school prefect. He stays at home with his proud parents.
Hanri played flank in primary school but says that in high school he discovered his speed and moved to fullback. Blessed with natural speed he loves to run with the ball, whether it be counter-attacking or straightening the line. It comes as no surprise that his favourite player has always been Breyton Paulse. Hanri loves the way Breyton is able to use his feet to beat his man and then accelerate away from him.
Hanri says the strengths of his team are their undying commitment and sense of urgency. AJ Ferreira will be looking to take Carlton-Van Heerden on at forward before releasing the ball to the backs. Hanri says that the backline have been practising their moves very diligently and he is confident that when the ball is released they will do the business and score the tries to win AJ Ferreira the game.
Hanri has not played any representative rugby and missed the Northern Cape Craven Week trials this year. A well-spoken and very polite boy Hanri is a committed academic and has spent the last year working hard towards achieving an A-aggregate for matric. The day we spoke to him was one of great celebration in the Snyders household as Hanri had found out that he had been accepted to Free State University to study physiotherapy and further his rugby.
AJ Ferreira have yet to play a game in 2006 and despite spending long hours on the practice field they go into the game slightly under prepared. As defending champions in the FNB Classic Clash they will have to draw on all their commitment to retain the title.
