Hawston host Swartberg

Swartberg of Caledon will go from their wheatlands down the mountains to Hawston at the sea where perlemoen is priceless for their FNB Classic Clash.

In the past Hawston played Hermanus in the FNB Classic Clash. Last year Hawston won 19-16 but this year they are not playing Hermanus and are playing Swartberg instead. In fact Hawston pupils used to go by bus up to Swartberg before Hawston got its own school,

Last year Hawston had a particularly good side and beat Swartberg 32-0.

Both schools are proud of their rugby, Hawston even more so of their Springbok Gio Aplon, who is a role model for the youth of the town. Both sides run with the ball. Both have fast backs. The Swartberg pack is probably the more physical of the two.

Season so Far

Hawston is not quite enjoying the successes of last year but have won seven of their 10 matches, though opposition not as demanding as in 2011. Their toughest match was probably against Bellville South who beat them 12-8.

Swartberg's toughest opposition was Overberg of Caledon who beat them 43-8.
