Hawston overcomes Swartberg
The match was played in sunny conditions and the crowd created a nice atmosphere throughout the day thanks to the high quality of sport on offer.
From the start both teams played running rugby and produced solid defensive work. The pack of forwards were well used and took the ball through numerous phases but were unable to transfer that into points. The match was played at a frenetic pace but both teams must have been concerned about their respective penalty counts.
Points were added in the first half though as Hawston's Wheelan Floors grabbed a score for the home side but was soon cancelled out Logan Hendricks, who picked up a try of his own for Swartberg.
It was much of the same in the second half with both sides continuing to run the ball. However, it was the home side who made the most of the phases created by their pack of forwards.
They laid the foundation for the backline to be released and ran the ball at Swartberg. The pressure would pay off as Muron Gillion and Junade Karelse got themselves over the line to seal the match.
