Hudson end on a high
It was the second time that Hudson emerged victorious over Cambridge, having beaten them on home turf earlier in the season, but this victory was even sweeter given that they managed it in front of their home crowd.
The field was abuzz in anticipation of the last game of the season between th two co-ed rivals. The music was playing and the two schools were eagerly awaiting the arrival of their teams.
The game started at a fast pace with Hudson dictating matters and controlling the play. Most of the game was played in the Cambridge half with the visitors defending tirelessly.
Hudson finally broke the deadlock with a well worked try down the right hand touchline to take a seven-point lead. Hudson stretched their lead a little later with a backline break and good support play leading to another seven-pointer.
Hudson then seemed to relax and Cambridge benefitted from a Hudson mistake to get onto the score board 14-7 at half-time.
The second half was a mixed bag with some exciting rugby from both teams and Hudson defending gamely.
Cambridge were first on the board with a penalty to cut the deficit to 14-10.
Hudson then seemed to find a second wind and after a good driving maul scored in the corner to make it 19-10. Hudson were unlucky not to get more reward from their maul which was often stopped illegally without been punished by the match official.
Cambridge attacked for long periods without success. Hudson had the final say when they scored an unconverted try in the corner to wrap up a comfortable victory in the end.
