Hudson Park down Cambridge again
Hudson Park scored four tries on their way to a 26-12 victory over Cambridge in their FNB Classic Clash in East London.
It was a tough game played in strong wind, but the home side handled the conditions well to make it two victories over their local rivals this year.
Cambridge started strongly and scored 1st to take a 7-0 lead after 8 minutes. That woke Hudson Park up and they scored in the 12th minute after a strong run from Naythan Knoetze down the touchline to score in the corner. Flyhalf Khanya mgebisa converted to level the scores.
Hudson picked up the tempo and scored again five minutes later after the ball shot out a scrum five metres from the Cambridge line for flank Bunono Sindi to pick up the ball and score. The conversion was missed giving Hudson a 12-7 lead.
After more pressure Hudson flyhaf put a kick behind the Cambridge line for centre Yamkela Nyalambisa to collect and score giving Hudson a 19-7 halftime lead.
Cambridge came out strongly in the second half and camped in Hudson territory. They were rewarded with a try early in the second half making it 19-12.
Cambridge kept the pressure on and earned a penalty in the Hudson 22, but turned down the shot at poles and went for the try. Hudson turned the ball over and wing Mitchell Best ran 70m to score under the poles.
That try knocked the wind out the Cambridge sails and the final score 26-12 to Hudson. It was a hard physical game in which both teams put everything they had into the game.
