Jeppe play Helpies
Jeppe go across to Helpmekaar on Saturday for 12 matches.
In the past Jeppe would have been regarded as hot favourites, but not so this year when Helpmekaar have been competitive and in fact successful, as Waterkloof found out last week. In fact the two schools had vastly different fortunes last weekend.
Jeppe lost 64-26 to Affies while Helpmekaar beat Waterkloof 17-16. Helpmekaar must be going into this match with great confidence.
Jeppe are ranked 15th on the FNB Top 20; Helpmekaar are unranked though they are causing much interest. Waterkloof, whom Helpmekaar beat, were ranked 18th at the time. It was thus a good victory for Helpies.
Both teams have played Affies, who are ranked eighth. Affies beat Helpies 24-0 and Jeppe 64-26.
It would seem that the schools are well matched and Helpies have homeground advantage in surely the excited support of the whole school. Rugby is important to Helpies as indeed it is to Jeppe.
