Justin Scott - Captain of WBHS

Inside centre Justin Scott will lead Wynberg Boys' High School into battle in tomorrow's FNB Classic Clashes encounter with local rivals, SACS.

Wynberg and SACS have been the form teams in the Southern Suburbs this year – both looking for the 'Triple Crown', with both teams having recorded victories over Rondebosch and Bishops thus far.

Wynberg even came close to toppling Paarl Gim a few weeks back. In fact, it took a brave tap-'n-go try by SA Under-20 star Handré Pollard to seal a win in injury-time – a defeat which captain Scott believes has made his team even hungrier for victory this season.

"It taught us a lot of lessons," Justin tells classicclashes.co.za. "It taught us how to play a game, how to finish it off… and what not to do in pressure situations."

Justin believes that Wynberg and SACS – two of the oldest schools in South Africa – are very evenly matched heading in Saturday.

He points to team spirit and unity as both sides' strongest suits, adding: "I think we even play the same style of rugby. Sure, we have a few stars and game-breakers, but we both play well as a team – that's why we're doing so well this year."

Scott played the second half of last year in the Wynberg First XV and was part of the team that lost to SACS in the third term – these two teams having shared the spoils in 2011, as they lost at home to one another.

As one would expect, Justin is hoping for the win at home on Saturday (kick-off 12.15pm), and to seal a second-term 'Triple Crown', but he warns that "it all depends who pitches up on the day".

Justin's number one rugby hero is All Blacks star Dan Carter, with South Africans Frans Steyn and Jaque Fourie a close second (and third).

Looking ahead to next year, the Wynberg First XV captain and Grade 12 pupil – who is currently a school prefect and head of house at Littlewood House (the WBHS boarding school) – plans on enrolling at UCT.

"I would like to study business science, or something else in that line," says Scott, who would dearly like to play Under-20A1 rugby at UCT – no doubt hoping for Varsity Young Guns selection at the same time.
