Keagan Wheeler – SACS captain
The oldest school in South Africa, the South African College High School (SACS), hosts old adversaries Wynberg Boys' High School in a FNB Classic Clash on Saturday. The home team will be led out by Keagan Wheeler.
Keagan is playing in his second year in the SACS 1st XV. He is naturally a scrumhalf but last season played fullback and this year has campaigned at inside centre for his team. Typical of the man who just loves being out there on the field with his mates giving his all for his school, he thinks nothing of it. Keagan has been at SACS since Grade 1 and is a school prefect.
Keagan, of sporting parents, is one of those boys who is a gifted sportsman and also captains the 1st XI Cricket as a batting all-rounder and brilliant fielder. He has recently been selected for the Western Province Schools team that will take part in the Coke Week in December. He plays golf for the 1st-team off a low single figure handicap.
Keagan is quiet by nature and is the type of player who leads by example. He regularly tops the tackle stats for his team while being a more than useful on attack. He has good feet and is strong in the tackle for a relatively small man.
Keagan is relishing the challenge of going up against Wynberg skipper Jarryd Sage who also plays No. 12 for his team. Sage has just being selected into the Craven Week team so their battle with be watched with keen interest.
Keagan wants to study B.Com (Law) at the University of the Western Cape next year where he will no doubt have both the cricket and rugby coaches vying for his attention.
