Klerksdorp dominate Lichtenburg

HS Klerksdorp ran in four tries to HS Lichtenburg's two as they claimed a fairly comfortable 32-21 Classic Clash victory in Klerksdorp on Saturday.

It was only going to be a tough battle for the visitors who were not really in the match and were up against it for the majority of the match as Klerksdorp managed to keep their noses ahead throughout the encounter.

Klerksdorp's captain Edmund Rheeder and wing Paul Maluleke scored the only tries of the first half while Erich Hough added the conversions as well as a penalty to close out the home side's scoring for the half.

Roelof Oosthuizen's boot kept Lichtenburg in the match when he scored all his side's first half points with three penalties to trail Klerksdorp 17-9 at the half-time interval.

It rained tries in the second half as both teams crossed their opponents' try-line on two occasions but the deficit proved too much for Lichtenburg.

Hooker Erlo Heymans and wing Riaan Scholtz added their names to the home side's try scorers list with Hough adding a further conversion and another penalty to close out the scoring for the home side.

Lichtenburg's Martinus Claase and Henrico Maree scored their sides second half tries while Oosthuizen managed to slot a conversion of his own.
