Klofies and Monnas set for battle
Hoërskool Waterkloof play Hoërskool Monument at Hoërskool Waterkloof on Saturday in a Premier Interschools match which will be televised live.
This is the last of the Premier Interschool matches, Megapro's new venture this year, largely on the initiative of Tiaan Strauss, the former Springbok captain.
The Season
Monnas and Klofies are year-in and year-out two of the strongest rugby schools in South Africa though for the first time in many years Monnas have had a wobbly season. Of their 15 matches they won eight and lost seven. The only team in the FNB Top 20 whom they beat was Oakdale while they lost to Outeniqua, Paul Roos, Grey Bloem,, Nelspruit, HTS Middelburg, Paarl Boys' High and KES.
Waterkloof, on the other hand are ranked sixth on the FNB Top 20. Their most notable win was over Affies who are ranked three. Klofies lost five of their 18 matches.

Higher Honours
Both schools have made a great contribution to South African rugby, Monnas, founded in 1921 and so the older school more to than Klofies which was founded in 1979.
Six Old Monnas have become Springboks – Christo Wagenaar, Brendan Venter, Jaque Fourie, Jorrie Muller, Heinke van der Merwe and Willem Alberts.
Four Old Klofies have become Springboks – Wikus van Heerden, Gary Botha, Danie van Schalkwyk and Barend Pieterse.
