Klofies play Tralies at home
Hoërskool Waterkloof from Pretoria and Hoërskool Sentraal from Bloemfontein will meet each other this Saturday in Pretoria for the two schools first derby this season.
Waterkloof will want to keep their unbeaten status so far this year at all cost. Klofies have played only four games this year, but its 26-20 victory against Paarl Boys' High School was an impressive victory.
Klofies won their matches against Louis Botha (15-0), Noordheuwel (57-0) and Nelspruit (22-17) thus far. The visitors from the City of Roses lost against Hoërskool Strand during Oakdale Agriculture's yearly high schools tournament (10-15). However not much should be read into this loss as the substitutes had game time. Tralies raised the bar and won against Durbanville (43-15) and Pietersburg Hoërskool (36-8). Tralies was named the school of the tournament.
Hoërskool Sentraal’s lock, SJ Wessels was player of the tournament at the Oakdale tournament. SJ and his lock partner, Ben Moodie form a formidable combination. The duo may hold the key for the game. Klofies Joyce twins, Sean and David, and flyhalf Tinus de Beer with his deadly boot should be watched.
Klofies will still be without his South African Schools scrumhalf Justin Phillips. Stefan Coetzer will have to fill his big shoes. The duel between Tralies captain Michael Venter and Klofie Wilbri Gunter in the midfield should be the highlight of the match. Gunter is the younger brother of Janco Gunter in 2011 represented the Blue Bulls at the Craven Week in Kimberley. Michael's older brother, Nico Venter represented Sentraal's first team in the midfield in 2007.
