Klofies ready for Kempies
Saturday will see Waterkloof clashing with Kemptonpark at Kempton to decide which of the two school rugby sides gets to play in the final of the prestigious Beeld Trophy.
While Kempton and Waterkloof battle for victory EG Jansen and Nelspruit will meet each other on Monday.
The Waterkloof boys come to the match against Kempton fresh off the back of a victory against HTS Middelburg in the quarter finals of the Beeld Trophy, winning in a spectacular fashion 51 – 5. There's no doubt that Klofies will need to show the same sort of determination on Saturday. The HTS Middelburg victory has been a high point in an otherwise challenging season! In spite of facing extremely tough opponents including Outeniqua, Affies and Paarl Gim, Klofies showed enough resilience this season to finish first in the Blue Bulls region, assuring their place in the run up of the Beeld Trophy.
Hoërskool Kemptonpark, meanwhile, competed in the tough NUPower TUKS series and has done fairly well. Kempies is a tough side as Waterkloof should know by now because, last year Kempton showed their ability to fight back – Kempton stole victory like a thief in the night from Klofies in the last minute of the game the final score was 19-17.
Xander van Wyk (captain) and Valke Rossouw (vice-captain) both expressed full faith in their teammates. Xander said that he thought the match would be very physical and Kempton is a tough team to play. Whatever happens, we expect big hits and plenty of action at Kempton on Saturday. Werner said that without a doubt it will be a physical encounter but he is happy that the team have come through the ranks as a team since Grade 8 they know each other and play well together. And this year there is an addition of a couple of Grade 11’s to strengthen the team.
