NEWS: Two schoolboy rugby powerhouses continue their rivalry that started back in 1921 when Glenwood High and Maritzburg College face off in the Premier Interschools this weekend.

Both these KwaZulu-Natal schools have had mixed results this season.

Maritzburg has won three of their five outings this season, disposing of Clifton (83-10), SACS (26-24) and the Golden Lions XV (24-7).

Glenwood has been in action in six games since early March but has only managed to record two victories thus far.

The first match between these two schools was played in 1921 at Glenwood, which Glenwood won by 5-0.

College dominated the earlier exchanges and held their current winning margin thanks to long-term dominance during the 50’s, 60’s 70’s and 80’s.

Since the late 90’s however, Glenwood began to get better results and have since been leading, winning eight of the last 10 games.
