Lots of fun at Saints Festival, Day 2
The eight rugby fixtures included an Old Boys' game between St Stithians and Bishops, and another packed arena for the St Stithians vs Bishops game.
After Thursday's disappointing result against Clifton, Graeme College hung on to a hard fought 1-point victory. The final result was Graeme 16 Parktown 15.
At half-time in the St Andrew's vs Clifton game the sides were evenly matched at 17-14 to St Andrew's. The crowd witnessed a total of nine tries with St Andrew's College winning the match 31-29.
Kingswood College vs Rondebosh Boys' High School: at half time a try separated the two sides. A high tackle by Rondebosch resulted in a yellow card; despite the number advantage, Kingswood defended most of the time with Rondebosch unable to score. Eventually Rondebosch scored a well-worked converted try in the corner. In the final moments, the Kingswood centre broke through and scored Kingswood's only try. Final score: Rondebosch 15-10 Kingswood.
The Grey PE vs Maritzburg game gave supporters a great game of schoolboy rugby with end-to-end action for most of the game. In the end Grey committed fewer errors and converted their chances. The Grey team bounced back strongly following a disappointing match against Bishops on Thursday. Final score: Grey 3015 Maritzburg.
The afternoon shower resulted in some handling errors as Saints took on a very strong and talented Bishops team. Saints just battled to match Bishops upfront and the forwards' dominance provided clean and quick ball for a talented backline which scored five well-worked tries for Bishops. Saints' persistence resulted in a late try. The final score: Bishops 35-7 Saints.
