New Classic Clash in Vanderbijl Park
Transvalia of Vanderbijlpark plays host to Vereeniging Gimnasium in an FNB Classic Clash on Saturday. It is a new experience and yet not really so new.
Vereeniging Gimnasium is a new school, and yet not really so new. Towards the end of last year a new school was born – Vereeniging Gimnasium out of the amalgamation of HTS Vereeniging and Hoërskool Vereeniging, a bigger and stronger school.
Before this Valia played HTS Vereeniging, the Tekkies, in FNB Classic Clashes and beat them three years in a row though last year they had to come from behind to win 24-20.
This year they are both strong sides who play top sides. They have each played three teams who are currently on the FNB Top 20. They have each lost all three but Transvalia ran Nelspruit close, losing 24-21 and Vereeniging Gim lost by just one point to Centurion – 28-27.
They have both played Rustenburg and Florida. Transvalia beat Rustenburg 34-14 while Vereeniging Gim won 33-22. The Florida results was a big difference. Transvalia won 17-15 while Vereeniging Gim lost 31-17.
It will be a good and enthusiastuic day in perfect weather.
