New Coaches for SA Schools Teams
SARU has announced the appointment of coaches for the SA Schools and SA Schools A teams for August “Tests” against England., Wales, France and Argentina.
Each team is to have two experienced schools coaches.
The new South African Schools coach to replace Sean Erasmus is the KES 1st XV coach Mzwakhe Nkosi, who was the coach h of the Golden Lions Schools team and Erasmus’s assistant in 2016-18. In 2018 Nkosi was also the assistant coach of the Golden Lions Under-19 team, then playing in a SARU competition which has ceased to exist this year.
Cobus van Wyk of Hoërskool Waterkloof, who coached the Pumas schools side last year, is Nkosi’s assistant coach.
The new South African Schools A side is Phiwe Nomlomo, who is the coach of the highly successful Selborne College 1st XV. Previously, Nomlomo was head coach at the Eastern Province Academy where he was part of the coaching staff of the Under-19, Under-21 and SuperSport Rugby Challenge sides.
Wessel du Plessis, the coach of South Africa’s top-ranked team, Grey College, will assist Nomlomo.
Dean Moodley of the Sharks will be the manager of the SA Schools team and Ofentse Moeng of the Blue Bulls the manager of the SA Schools A side.
The SA Schools and SA Schools A teams will be announced a week after the conclusion of the Under-18 Craven Week, which will be hosted at Grey College in Bloemfontein from Monday, 1 July to Saturday, 6 July 2019.
