New Orleans eye Classic hat-trick
New Orleans will be determined to claim a hat-trick of wins over Klein Nederburg in Saturday’s FNB Classic Clash in Paarl.
New Orleans in 2011 snapped a four-match losing streak with a hard-fought 15-9 win and followed it up with a comfortable 25-8 victory last year to put themselves in a position to secure a ‘classic’ hat-trick.
History suggests they will achieve this objective.
Over the past 20 years, New Orleans have gone on to win at least three consecutive derby matches before falling victim to Klein Nederburg.
New Orleans captain and fullback Uzair Davids, however, says history will count for nothing when the teams write the latest chapter in this great rivalry this weekend.
“Since 1984 we have won 23 matches out of 29 but history remains history. It's a new ball game on Saturday,” said Davids.
