Nico Malan too strong
A physical Nico Malan ran in eight tries on their home ground resulting in Muir going down 12-44. Hosting Nico had a 32-7 cushion going into the half-time break.
Nico used the width of the field well with players working hard off the ball and creating gaps in the Muir defence. The hosts exploited these gaps in running in six tries in the half with only one converted. Muir's Lutho Jibiliza pounced on a ball after sustained pressure and dotted under the poles. Scrumhalf Joel Wates kicked the conversion.
The second half saw a more determined Muir side take the field and make good use of the wind. The visitors defended valiantly but Nico used their big forward and crossed the line twice during the half.
Muir continued to the bitter end, never backing down and was rewarded when flank Ray Triegaardt crossed the line.
