Noord-Kaap are again Champions

Noord-Kaap played Hentie Cilliers of Virginia in the KOVSIE Central Region final in Bloemfontein at Shimla Park on Saturday. Northerns won a nail-biting encounter 30 28 after trailing 0-9 at the break.

Northerns have now win this competition for the fourth consecutive time since 2009.

With an almost gale-force northwest wind, playing conditions were almost unplayable and it was always going to be a close encounter. Northerns dominated play up front completely but spilled a bucket full of balls through poor handling – given the conditions.

Once more, Northerns points' machine, right wing Dimitrio Tieties scored the majority of his team's points – 20 in total. Lock Gilbert Chalmers was a giant on attack and defence and flank Lehan Muller supported him very well. Scrumhalf Zane le Roux was in excellent form in his third KOVSIE League final, despite carrying a cough and a sneeze.
