Noord-Kaap win two in quick succession

Noord-Kaap of Kimberley won the big one on the Saturday and were again on the winning side on the Monday. They beat Diamantveld on Saturday and Dulwich from South London on Monday.

On Saturday they beat Diamantveld, which pretty well drowns them the Kings of the Griquas. They won just 11-10 but reports suggest that the score could have been greater.

One one occasion a charged-down kick just eluded flank Louwtjie Maritz and on two occasions great breaks by outside centre Andrew van Wyk died for lack of a pass. In addition Noord-Kaap missed two kicks at goal.

The match was played on a cold afternoon at Noord-Kaap. At half-time the score was 3-all.

Each side scored a try, both scored by flanks. Divan Esterhuizen scored for Noord-Kaap and his opposite number scored for Diamantveld from broken play.

Conrad Prinsloo converted Diamantveld's try and added a penalty. For Noord-Kaap inside centre Tiaan van Wyk dropped a goal and Jaco Henning kicked a penalty goal.

Noord-Kaap played against Dulwich without five of the players who had played against Diamantveld but were much too good for the Londoners. The home [played the game at a higher tempo and the wings were much too fast.

Noord-Kaap scored five tries, of which scrumhalf Jaco Henning converted two. Andrew van Wyk was again in devastating form and scored two tries. Each of the wings, Zenaldo Fredericks and Garnet Cloete, scored tries. Flyhalf Divan van Zyl got the fifth.

Matt Chambers scored Dulwich's try and Javier O'Beroi converted it.

Noord-Kaap had eight players in the Griqualand West Craven Week side – Otto von Molendorf, Ruark Bothma, Mouritz Nortjé, Divan Esterhuizen, Ivan Mthe, Zenaldo Fredericks, Andrew van Zyl and Thabo Mongale  who does not make the 1st XV.
