Orgie de Beer - Captain of HTS Sasolburg

HTS Sasolburg captain Orgie de Beer has a lot on his plate. Not only will he lead his team into battle in Saturday's FNB Classic Clash against Sasolburg Hoerskool, but he is also his team's goalkicker.

The Grade 12 pupil will line up in his favoured No.10 jersey as he looks to lead his team to victory after a tough season up till now.

And with all the extra responsibilities he faces?

"It is tough," he admits, when asked about juggling the captaincy and goalkicking, "but I enjoy it and it's all part of the job!"

As far as playing at flyhalf, and leading his team's attack, Orgie points to Bulls and Springbok flyhalf Morné Steyn as the most complete No.10 around at present.

"Our team's attack is our strong point," he says, "hopefully I can put the guys around me into space to create opportunities."

HTS have been working on their defence and front row play this week, in preparation for Saturday, and captain De Beer is expecting a "hard contest" against their near-neighbours.

"We've lost a few games this year… and won about two or three only," he points out. "But we will keep our heads high and if we can get our basics right, and put them under pressure, well, then anything can happen."

Orgie – at 83 kilograms and 1,72 metres – hopes to join the Sharks Academy next year and he will travel to Durban at the end of this month for an interview.
