Paarl Gim's Tournaments

For the 25th year, Paarl Gim will be hosting its Under-16 and Under-14 tournaments.

Paarl Gim, it seems, is a school for the long haul. After all, it was founded nearly 160 years ago and it was the wellspring of the establishment of Afrikaans as a South African language.

This year there will be 40 teams taking part and they come from north, south, east and west.

Many of the schools' home towns are obvious from their geographic names. Here are the home towns of the less obvious – SACS (Newlands), DF Malan (Bellville), Stellenberg (Durbanville), Diamantveld (Kimberley), Marlow (Cradock), Michaelhouse (Balgowan in the KwaZulu Natal Midlands), Eldoraigne, Menlopark, Affies, Waterkloof and Garsfontein (Pretoria), Dr EG Jansen (Boksburg), Outeniqua (George, Oakdale (Riversdale), Grey College (Bloemfontein), Monument (Krugersdorp), Die Brandwag (Uitenhage), Boland Landbou (Paarl), Monument (Krugersdorp), Paul Roos (Stellenbosch), Framesby (Port Elizabeth) and Westville (Durban).

There will be matches on 1, 3 and 5 April 2017.
