Paarl meets Stellenbosch
Two of South Africa's top rugby schools meet in a Interschools clash in Paarl on Saturday – Paarl Boys' High and Paul Roos Gymnasium of Stellenbosch.
They are great schools, nurseries of Springboks and many other top players. And still great players come from them.
Both are in the Top 20 – Paarl Boys' High fifth, Paul Roos, who had an erratic start to the season, 19th. A glance at the boys who achieved recently, confirms that Paarl Boys' High has more talent – not that that makes them invincible. It is good to bear in mind that their achievements are done in a year in which Western Province Schools rugby has been particularly powerful
Paarl is wet and most likely to get wetter. Several matches have been switched to Friday afternoon. The field which is narrow and which will be heavy will suit Paarl's powerful pack. Not that Paul Roos will stand back. They can mix it with the best.

There are not many matches in common for two schools so close to each other but, bless them, they are both schools willing to take on anybody anywhere, and so frequently play schools a long way away.
