Parktown leave St John's behind
Parktown scored eight unanswered points in the second half to hand St John's a 21-13 defeat in their FNB Classic Clash in Johannesburg on Saturday.
The teams went into the half-time break deadlocked at 13-13 in this tense encounter, but Parktown showed good composure in the second half to grab a rare victory over their local rivals.
a try from scrumhalf Michael Moyo saw Parktown take a 7-0 lead on home turf, but St John's responded with a try of their own, and after both goalkickers had slotted a penalty things were tied up at the break.
A penalty from skipper Nikiwe Sekhibidu saw Parktown take a slender 16-13 lead in the second half, which was how the score stayed until the final stages when flank Zander Worst got over for the decisive try.
Following an extended period of pressure in the St Johns 22, Worst had a crack at the line and was forced over by his teammates to clinch victory.
