For both teams its is the last match of the year – a top clash between No.2 and No.3 in schools rugby. Paul Roos has its name from the great first captain of the Springboks abroad and the school which bears his name has more Old Boy Springboks than any other school. The school which in recent times has most Old Boy Springboks is Grey College, whose Old Boys populate many teams.

They are both old schools by South African standards – Grey 160 years old, Paul Roos 150 years old this year when rugby has been a joyful part of the school's celebrations, and they have had lots to celebrate. Part of their celebration was winning the Sanix World Rugby Youth Tournament 2011 in Japan. .

Season So Far

Both are excellent rugby teams. At present, Grey College are second on the FNB Top 20, Paul Roos 3rd.

Paul Roos, in their 150th birthday year, have played 14 matches in South Africa, winning 11 and losing three. Ten of their opponents are or have been on the Top 20. Their defeats have been against Paarl Schools – Gim, Boys' High and Boland Landbou. Playing rugby in Paarl is tough.

Grey College have played 16 matches, winning 12, drawing one and losing three. Ten of their opponents are or have been on the Top 20. They drew with Diamantveld at the start of the season and lost their three matches in a May bundle – to Monnas, Boys' High and Affies.
