Potch boys beat Parktown

Match Report

Potchefstroom Boys' High beat Parktown 15-10 in Potchefstroom on Saturday.

College’s first XV rugby went into the match without fly half Van Rensburg who got injured plying for the Leopards against the Falcons on Tuesday. This created an opportunity that was taken with both hands by Thabang Magolego.

Parktown scored in the second minute through wing K Hennon to lead 5 –0 and had two opportunities to extend their lead through penalties but opted to kick for the touch-line.

In the 12th minute fullback Sidwell Shole scored one of the best individual tries the Gevers Field has ever seen when he caught a ball just outside his 22 and ran through the whole team to score under the posts.  Thabang Magolego converted.

The next try by captain Tilip Marole was a result of some brilliant handling with the ball being passed 27 times in the movement. Magolego then converted a penalty, and with three minutes to go the score was 15-5.

Parktown came back and scored a good try through wing N Nyoni and with the conversion they were awarded a penalty (for diving on the try scorer) on the half way line that could have made the scores even. The conversion was missed and Parktown opted to kick for the touchline. The score remained 15-10.
