Potch Boys make it a double
Potchefstroom Boys High School defeated HTS Potchefstroom 17-5 in a hard-fought FNB Classic Clash in front of their home crowd.
The victory makes it a double for Potchefstroom Boys High, after they defeated their local rivals away from home last year, but they were forced to work hard for this one.
The home side lost two of the backline players to injury in the first ten minutes of the game as HTS Potchefstroom signalled their intent, but it would be Potchefstroom Boys High who would make the most of their opportunities in the first half.
The Potch Boys High pack laid a solid platform up front, and their outside backs were able to capitalise as they ran in three tries to establish a good lead.
To their credit, the visitors came back hard in the second half, playing with real intent as they took the game to the Potch Boys High side.
However, despite heaping pressure on the home side's defence, they could not find a way through as Potch Boys High defended admirably in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
HTS Potchefstroom No.8 Laurens Ramoola managed to cross the witewash for his team's only try, but it was little more than a consolation as Potch Boys High held on for the win.
