Premier Interschools Kicks Off in Durban
The first of the big interschool derbies which forms part of the Premier Interschools series, kicks off in Durban on Saturday, 6 April 2019, when Glenwood play Maritzburg College.
It is a rugby rivalry which is 98 years old, dominated for many years by College, but lately by Glenwood.
Schools rugby has a enthusiatic charm and innocence that is always appealing and it is probably more important than ever in South Africa, if the game is to survive in the country and be competitive with the rest of the world.
There are 11 Premier Interschools matches this year, all previewed and shown live on television.
The last Top 20 of last year featured the following schools, who are taking part in the Premier Interschools this year: Grey College (1), Paul Roos (2), Glenwood (3), Paarl Gim (4), 5 Paarl Boys’ High (5), Oakdale (6), Affies (13), Boland Landbou (14) and Bishops (20).
