Preview: Randburg v Linden
Hoerskool Linden and Hoerskool Randburg are just two kilometres apart, and the rivals will meet in a crunch Classic Clash match on Saturday, May 16.
For many years no rugby matches were played between them as they were playing in different divisions, however when they eventually reentered the same division, the schools are now destined to play each other again on a yearly basis.
This year the games will be played at Linden on Saturday May 16 and the competition for the trophy will again be fierce.
Linden's team for Saturday is a mix of experience and youth, but captain Ryan Johst ensures that they play well as a team, and the skipper is expecting a tough encounter on Saturday.
"Randburg is always hard, and they play good rugby, so I know we will have to work hard to get good results," said Johst.
The make-up of the Randburg team is full of experienced players and is at full-strength. Randburg captain Armandt Kruger, however, says the game will always be a tightly contested one between these two rivals.
"It is a very close call as to who will be lifting the trophy this year. The previous two years has been quite even."
"Linden will come at us full force. It is always a very physical battle up front," added Kruger.
Linden will be the hosts of this sizzling derby, and given the nature of the two teams, it should prove to be a tightly contested affair.
