Preview: Tiere vs Brakkies
The Northern Suburbs in Cape Town will see of two of its biggest schools in action on Saturday when Hoërskool Tygerberg host Hoërskool Brackenfell in their Classic Clash.
The Brakkies have not tasted victory for the past six years, but they have come increasingly close in the last six years. Last year's meeting ended in a 22-all draw.
On that day both schools produced exciting rugby with the lead being exchanged on numerous occasions. In the final 10 minutes the lead changed hands no fewer than four times.
Brackenfell were at home on that occasion and this year they will have to make the short trip to the home of the Tiere.
Tygerberg have won 11 of their 15 matches played this season, but probably their best result of the season was their draw with Noord-Kaap earlier this year.
Tygerberg captain Shane Farmer, who represented Western Province in this year's Under-18 Craven Week, believes they have not reached their full potential.
"Our season has been ok, but it could have been better. There is always room for improvement.
"We a team full of experience and we are confident we can succeed," said Farmer.
Brackenfell have also had a fairly successful season in terms of results. They have lost just three of their 23 games this season.
Brakkies head coach Philip Taylor will almost have a full strength team to take to Tygerberg to try and get an upset win.
"Our preparations are complete and it has been good," said Taylor. "We only have one injury and that was to our fullback.
"We have been working hard on defence this week and we have just been focusing on following the same pattern."
