Oakdale captain Benjamin Jansen van Vuuren knows exactly what it takes to beat rivals Marlow, and he intends to make that count in their FNB Classic Clash on Saturday.
Jansen van Vuuren was part of the team that demolished Marlow 53-3 at home last year, and he is intent on leading his team to another dominant performance when they travel away this weekend.
The energetic openside flank played for SWD at Craven Week in Polokwane, which he says was a fantastic experience, but he is happy to be back with his team as they prepare for the big showdown with Marlow.
"Craven Week was great but I missed my team. We may have lost a couple of games this season, but we have done well against the big schools so we are feeling confident for this weekend," he explained.
Jansen van Vuuren hails from Humansdorp, so he knows a few of the Marlow players quite well, and although he does not know much about their side he is expecting a fierce test.
Jansen van Vuuren grew up supporting Western Province, but he models his game on Cheetahs fetcher Heinrich Brussow and admits that if he could play for any team it would be the Bloemfontein side.
The Oakdale captain, who is hoping to study a B.Sc in agricultural sciences next year, has urged his team to make the most of their mobility and move the ball around against Marlow this weekend.
"Our pack is nice and mobile and we have got some good pace on the wings so we want to use that to our advantage. We should have some good support even though it is away from home so hopefully it goes as well as last year," he said.
