Queen's win Marlow bruiser
Queen’s College beat a gutsy Marlow outfit 23-9 in Cradock on Saturday afternoon.
The match was as uncompromising as anyone expected. Marlow are traditionally “tough as nails” opponents and they proved this during the course of the match.
The scores were locked at 6-all at the half-time with Queen’s College being forced into absorbing tremendous amounts of pressure.
The Men from Queenstown are climbing the SA Schools Rankings at a rate of knots and they are doing this because of their resilience and composure. They have had three very good weeks against quality opposition and they were called to answer to an outstanding Marlow performance.
The second half was all Queen’s College.
The visitors began finding gaps in the opposition defence and scored two scintillating tries through eighthman Khanya Mzilikazi and fullback Khaya Malotana, while Joshua Stander chipped in with another penalty and two conversions. Marlow added a penalty, but the result was never in doubt to those who watched this entertaining fixture.
Queen’s College have a tough away fixture against a good Dale College team this coming weekend.
The King William’s Town team snuck passed Selborne this past weekend and will be tough to beat at home. Expect them to be at their very best when they take on their “battle-hardened” friends from Queenstown.
