Red vs Blue In Kroonstad
On Saturday the Rooiskool will go across to the Blouskool for the annual sporting contests, the climax of which is the 1st XV rugby match, an FNB Classic Clash.
The Rooiskool – Afrikaanse Hoërskool – has dominated the fixtures in recent years. Last year the Blouskool – Hoërskool Kroonstad – did not win one of the seven rugby matches. Rooiskool's first team won 45-0.
Usually there is a huge crowd at the match, but if it becomes increasingly predictable the crowd may well dwindle.
There is not just rugby/. There is also hockey for boys and girls and netball for girls.
This Season
Rooiskool has had a good season, not so Blouskool. Bloues conceded more than 40 points on five occasions but then hammered Klerksdorp 55-3.
The only time Rooies took a beating was against the great Grey College who beat them 73-10. They had a particularly good win over Marlow.
Common Opponents
Although the two schools are in the same town and not a big town at that, they have only one opponent in common – Hentie Cilliers which provides class teaching to the boys recruited for Harmony Mine's sports school.
