SACS in big win
The South Africa College High School (SACS), hosting Hoerskool Brackenfell, scored early on and held onto a comfortable lead throughout, eventually winning 62-21 (half-time 29-7).
It was another glorious winter’s morning in Cape Town.
Brackenfell are a well-coached side and tested the SACS defence throughout with their forwards in particular giving a good account of themselves. Running hard off their scrumhalf and driving through the middle and around the edges of rucks they offloaded well in contact and produced some fine passages of play, the first of which led to their first of three converted tries and drew the scores level at 7-all.
It was out wide though that SACS held sway and when the SACS forwards had done the hard yards gaps opened up too easily for the SACS backs to exploit. Centre Richard Rodgers cashing in with a hat-trick of tries and fullback Seb Roodt with a brace.
The match was played in a good spirit and was entertaining throughout although both teams have aspects of their play to work on before facing very tough opponents next week. Brackenfell find themselves up against the ever improving Swartland High while SACS play host to Paul Roos in their traditional Winter's Day encounter.
