SACS Take Tygerberg’s Scalp
The South African College High School (SACS) produced a solid al-lround performance in beating Tygerberg High 38-5. The game was played at Tygerberg in cold and wet conditions.
SACS started well and put together some good passages of phase play which resulted in Shane Fourie kicking an early penalty. Tygerberg struck back though after seventeen minutes with the first try of the game. Tygerberg intercepted an errant pass and a few phases later went over in the corner. The conversion was unsuccessful.
SACS took control from that point and scored three tries before the interval to see them go in leading 23-5. SACS stretched the Tygerberg defence in difficult conditions and were rewarded with tries for Seb Roodt, Justin Joubert and Shane Fourie.
The second half was evenly contested as Tygerberg used the wind to pin SACS back in their half. Tygerberg came close to scoring but were undone by an unfortunate bounce of the ball off the post. It took SACS twenty-six minutes to break Tygerberg down and they did so with a try from a driving maul for flank James Ambler-Smith. SACS scored two more tries both from scrumhalf and captain Keagan Wheeler to seal a good win away from home against difficult opponents.
SACS will be pleased with the result as they head into the final three games against local rivals Bishops, Rondebosch and Wynberg.
