The number of matches continues to peter out. There was none in KwaZulu Natal though the Cape stayed active with just one week to go.
There were six FNB Classic Clashes this week – in Oudtshoorn where Langenhoven Gim won well and so go into Die Burger's semifinal, King William's Town when Queen's came to play, Parow where Tygerberg played hosts, Hawston when Swartberg came from Caledon, East London when Hudson Park won well and Humansdorp when Framesby visited and won.
In addition there was the annual clash between Grey College went to wet Stellenbosch and won handsomely, so much so that one wondered what would have happened on dry day with full teams, Riversdale when the Landbou derby was won by Oakdale, and in Somerset West when Strand went across the N2 to Hottentots Holland.
Up in Northvaal Kempies shocked Klofies with a close victory.
Astonishingly rugby went ahead in the Western Cape where the rain has been heavy and persistent. But the matches between Worcester Gym and Charlie Hofmeyr had to be called off as the transport could not get over the passes to Ceres.
