Glenwood in great win
There were few matches this weekend but some big ones, including four FNB Classic Clashes.
There was a big won for Paarl Boys' High and a massive win for Bishops but probably the biggest feat of the weekend was Glenwood's victory over Grey Bloem.
Union High and Schoonspruit had not difficulty in winning their FNB Classic Clashes but there was a huge tussle in Somerset East. A drop by François Bekker seemed to have given Cradock the victory but there was still time enough for a penalty to clinch the tough match for the home side. And in another tough encounter a kick decided the result in Paarl, a conversion this time.
Interschools are in at the moment. Hugenote of Wellington, Hermanus, Vredenburg, Strand and Boland Landbou were all winners as were Voortrekker in the Cape Peninsula derby – but just.
In Die Burger's semi-final for Big Schools, there was drama in Cradock as Marlow won.
The Beeld semi-finals for Big Schools in Northvaal were clear-cut as Affies and Waterkloof, predictably, went through to the final.
In Griqualand West Noord-Kaap beat Upington 25-all! That was the score at the end of extra time but the match was awarded to Noord-Kaap for scoring three tries to two. Noord-Kaap now play Diamantveld in the final.
Rugby has been haopopening mainly in the old Cape where they still play the game for fun!
