Saturday it seems was the day of really close encounters.
The Springboks just made it in Salta and there were five Classic Clashes – a draw in Brackenfell and victory twice by two points in Queenstown and East London, once by five points in Bloemfontein and a massive 15 points in Port Elizabeth. There was Macro School Final in Gauteng won by one point and a semifinal in the Western Cape won by two points.
Apart from Classic Clashes, the play-offs in Gauteng and Western Cape, there were Interschools matches to end the season in Kraaifontein (Vredenburg), Durbanville (Stellenberg), Paarl (Labori), Montagu, (Montagu) Wellington (Hugenote), Piketberg (Piketberg), Bellville (Bellville) and Brackenfell.
The winners are in brackets except in Brackenfell where the match was drawn.
Then on the heavy field at the Farm, Boland Landbou won their agricultural battle against Oakdale.
In keeping with the spirit of Saturday's close matches, Wales beat France 10-9 in the Under-18 tournament but for the first time in four such tournaments SA Schools lost.
Most schools rugby will have closed down this week with few matches for the end of the month.
Even the Cape heads for aestivation.
