Schools rugby is still well under way, though there are many who believe it is still summer, a season in which cricket is played. Many prefer to use all of the winter for rugby.
Many of the top rugby schools in South Africa have been in recent action, including teams that were in the 2020 Top 20 – Grey College, Helpmekaar, Stellenberg, Affies, St Andrew’s of Grahamstown, Boland Landbou, Selborne and Outeniqua.
