Schools results: April 9
The biggest we received was Benoni High's win over Affies of Sasolburg, not to be confused with Affies of Pretoria who had a huge victory.
There were other surprisingly big wins – for Glenwood, Oakdale, Bethlehem Voortrekker, Henties over Blouskool, Garsies, Welkom Gimmies, Selborne, Augsburg and Vredendal. And then there was a big win for Grey Bloem over Maritzburg College. After Grey's big wins in 2007 (86-3) and 2008 (72-7), the two famous schools did not play each other for five years and last year Grey won by only two points – 36-34.
This was Grey's fourth match and so they will be included in our Top 20 deliberations this week. This is true for several top schools.
Top matches this weekend brought Paul Roos victory over Grey PE and Paarl Gim a win on the Farm. Paarl Boys' High had their 25th consecutive 1st XV victory but it was a last-minute affair in George when fullback Gianni Lombard scored a try in the last minute and then kicked the conversion for a two-point win. And then Eldoraigne brightened up a dull start to the season with a win over the Rooibulle.
