Schools in Pietermaritzburg were closed and KES buses on their way down to Pietermaritzburg were turned back. The boys from those that got through were housed at Maritzburg College.
That may also well be a first!
In the weekend's big interschools at the stadium in Faure Street, Paarl, the second such occasion in successive Saturday's New Orleans beat Klein Nederburg 18-15
Probably the biggest surprise of the day was SACS's defeat at the hands of Bishops at SACS on a damp Saturday morning.
There was also Grey College's massive win over Glenwood. Both sides had players in the South African Schools team, playing in the international tournament in Stellenbosch, but their absence cannot wholly explain the result. Grey was without three players in this way, Glenwood four.
This is Grey's second big win in a row, after beating Grey High 73-10 last week.

Selborne's win over Dale, in a splendid match, reversed last term's result when Dale won. This match was a Classic Clash.
Dirkie Uys of Moorreesburg played twice this weekand drew both with scored in their twenties. Afrikaanse Hoërskool – the Rooiskool – of Kroonstad drew with Witteberg of Bethlehem, two strong sides in action.
