Seb Remelzwaal - Captain of Bishops

Bishops captain Seb Remmelzwaal has played three different positions this season so he is ready for anything against Rondebosch this weekend.

Remmelzwaal started the season as a mobile loosehead prop, and has been in and out of the team, featuring at flank as well before settling on his current position of lock.

The versatile forward was handed the captaincy reins just last week in a move that Bishops hope will turn a disappointing season around, and despite going down to a strong Wynberg side he believes that the team took an important step in "putting the pride back in Bishops rugby".

"Credit to Wynberg, they are a tough side but we showed plenty of guts on the field which was encouraging. We struggled in the beginning of the season and forgot what Bishops rugby stands for, but last week felt like a big change or turning point for us," he explained.

With just one injury-enforced change to the team this week Bishops will have some rare continuity, but Remmelzwaal knows that it will take a mighty effort to prevail.

"It is always a massive game against Rondebosch and anything can happen. They are a solid outfit and we normally have a fairly even struggle with them so we expect a tough game but this has been our most intense training week all season so we are positive," he said.

The Bishops captain explained that while his team will try and play to their strengths by running the ball, he is aware that the forwards will have to do some hard work in order to make that possible.

"We do play a bit of a risky style of rugby, and we know that we need to do some hard groundwork and build a base because playing running rugby is a privilege," he said.

The selfless skipper who clearly puts the team ahead of himself knows that he will have to lead the way and put his body on the line if Bishops are to turn things around and claim a victory away from home.
